3 Tips For Giving Business Presentations

1. No matter what kind of speech you’re giving, tell stories. Nothing pulls in an audience like a compelling protagonist, his journey, his growth and a payoff. The story can be first or third person, but it should convey one’s humanity.

2. Don’t try to be something that you’re not. If you’re not funny, don’t tell jokes. If you’re not an expert in your audience’s profession, don’t’ tell them how to do their job. Be authentic and speak only about what you know, in a style that suits your personality. Audiences appreciate sincerity and abhor affectation.

3. Ask questions before the presentation. Find out what audiences members want to know about, what struggles they’re facing and what’s keeping them up at night. Form your talk around these issues and you’re guaranteed to have their attention. These interviews will also give you an opportunity to build rapport with members of the group.
