As a speaker,
I think of myself less as a teacher than I do a student. Every
time I speak I'm just giving a book report. But I'm always reading,
watching and asking questions. It really makes a difference for
me not only as a speaker, but as an ambitious person. I've learned
that leadership is a dynamic process. The best leaders actively
seek self-improvement because they know personal power isn't permanent.
Like the cliché says, "If you snooze, you lose."
Fortunately,
it doesn't take much to keep you on top of your game. I recommend
devoting 15 minutes a day to your leadership development. If you
do that on a regular basis, I'll guarantee you'll feel significant
growth. You can do this by:
-
Watching
motivational videos
and listen to tapes
-
Reading
motivational books
-
Checking
out self-improvement web sites
-
Attend
classes and conferences
-
Starting
leadership discussion groups
-
-
Watch
people and journal about your observations
-
Watch
YOURSELF and journal about your observations
When we exercise
our bodies we become physically stronger. Actively develop your
leadership skills and you will be surprised by the power and influence
you will quickly acquire.
