It was another great conference with the California Association of Directors of Activities. As a motivational speaker based in California, I’ve become a “Copper Sponsor” of CADA, which means I donate a few speeches throughout the year and support their programs. Their big event is the annual convention where activities directors, student council advisors and leadership teachers get together to attend sessions and exchange ideas. I did my “propless team building game” workshop and had a great turnout. I was very proud of my colleague Mike Smith who received a wonderful response to his keynote.
I left CADA in time to take my son to the season closer of UCLA Men’s Basketball. As the graduating seniors were escorted onto the court by their parents, I got a little choked up thinking about my six year-old-son Bailey, a basket prodigy and fanatic, one day playing on that court. I know it sounds like a father’s fantasy, but I can’t imagine UCLA’s great players 12 years from now are any better today than Bailey. The kid is unbelievable and UCLA could be in his future. Let’s just hope he can get us better seats.
Tomorrow I’m a motivational speaker for schools in the San Luis Obispo area before catching the red eye to Boston where I’m giving the closing motivational keynote for the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils. This will be the second of the five states I’ll be speaking in this month. See you on the road!
