How President Bush Can Become An Effective Motivational Speaker

Yesterday I was interviewed by Slate Magazine for my thoughts on how President Bush can succeed as a motivational speaker. He’s scheduled to give his first presentation on Monday at the “Get Motivated! Business Seminar” in Fort Worth, Texas.

As a motivational speaker myself, I know that fame goes a long way in my industry. If he can avoid political commentary and instead share stories, lessons learned and demonstrate some humanity, he’ll connect with audience members from both sides of the spectrum. Americans have great affection for former presidents and turn out in large crowds to see them in person. Whether or not you like the guy, he’s had an experience like no other. He’s faced difficult decisions and certainly made some mistakes. That’s where there’s opportunity to motivate. No stranger to public speaking, he’s certain to entertain. In spite of dismal approval ratings as president, I predict great success for him as a speaker.
